"...they refined the formula for optimal reel performance. The result is SHŪ: born from aerospace, perfected for anglers."
Precision Lubricant for Classic Reels
SHŪ is a high-performance precision oil, originally developed for vintage bait-casting reels—especially models from the 1910s to 1970s. Whether you’re at the lake, river, or ocean, SHŪ is designed to awaken the full potential of your classic collection with smoother casts, longer distance, and unmatched control.
But SHŪ's value doesn’t stop at fishing. What makes it truly unique is its origin—not in sport, but in aerospace. The formula was born from decades of research into synthetic lubricants for jet engines, then refined into a precision oil capable of enhancing any finely tuned rotational mechanism.
From reels to rotary components, SHŪ offers elite performance, long-term resilience, and silky-smooth motion. This isn’t just a lubricant. It’s a restoration. A reinvention.
The Inventor
Mr. Michihide Tokashiki
Executive Researcher and Innovator in Lubrication Chemistry
Born in Osaka, Japan in 1934, Mr. Tokashiki earned a master’s degree in chemistry from Kyoto University before beginning his career at Tonen Energy (an Exxon/Shell affiliate). Over 50 years, he led the development of synthetic lubricants for automotive clients such as Toyota and for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces’ aircraft engines.
Later in his career, he became the first executive from the research division to hold a leadership role at the company, serving as Chief of Laboratory and Executive Researcher. In 2003, he received the prestigious Japan Tribology Association Award for his contributions to the field.
It was during his work on high-performance jet lubricants that he discovered an application for recreational use. Together with his longtime collaborator Mr. Asahi Negishi—CEO of Negishiken Laboratory—they refined the formula for optimal reel performance. The result is SHŪ: born from aerospace, perfected for anglers.
The Next Generation
